Keb’Mo (+Andrea Bignasca) – Les Docks, 4.2.2020

I was lucky to see Keb’Mo’ twice in the last 12 monthes: the first time in an entirely acoustic solo set, last summer in Geneva in an open air festival, and more recently in an electric set with his entire band at Les Docks in Lausanne (Switzerland). Not entirely electric, as there was an acoustic set in the middle of the show at Lausanne as well with Keb’Mo’ performing solo.
Keb’Mo’ is amazing, solo as well as with the whole band and he is currently one of my top preferred blues artist. And I’m surely not alone, as Keb’Mo’ has just received a grammy award recently for his most recent and excellent album « Oklahoma ». As I said, both shows were great, but I particularly appreciated the acoustis set in Geneva, because althought there were probably over 1000 people, it just felt as if he was playing at home with a bunch of friends.

He was playing in Lausanne in a joint organisation of Les Docks and the Blues Rules Crissier Festival who had organised a press to announce the programme of their 10 years festival on 5 and 6 June, and I’ll probably come back to that later.

The opening act was an artist from Ticino, Andrea Bignasca, who I only knew by reputation and hadn’t heard very much of him before. He played solo with electric guitar, kick drum and vocals in his performance was amazing ! Somewhere between blues, pop and rock of the 70’s with a great voice and an excellent presence. Looking forward to see this guy with a full band.
