Parmi les photos que j’affectionne, j’aime beaucoup les photos d’architecture: des structures et des formes pures qui se croisent et s’organisent de manière logique. C’est peut-être que l’ordre à un effet rassurant, ou tout simplement reposant parce que ce sont des formes pures et géométriques. Dans cette catégorie, j’aime plus particulièrement les images en noir et blanc, peut-être parce que dépouillées de leurs couleurs les structures en sont réduites à leurs plus simples expressions.
Bien sûr, dans la photo d’architecture, il y a d’abord le travail d’un architecte et le photographe a la lourde tâche de capturer un détail de cette oeuvre pour soit la mettre en valeur, soit la transcender en la transformant en quelquechose d’autre, tout en préservant le respect dû au créateur original (je doute qu’un photographe qui aurait le choix photographierait quelquechose qu’il n’aime pas).
Dans les très belles images de Manuela Martin, (sur Flickr) il y a des courbes et des droites, de magnifiques éclairages et des dégradés de gris subtiles. Des escaliers, des immeubles, des parkings, tout ce qui peut se trouver dans le mobilier urbain, mis en valeur par de superbes cadrages. Bref, si l’architecture et la photo d’architecture vous intéressent, c’est une collection d’images à découvrir.
Among the pictures I like, I love pictures of architecture; structures and forms crossing each other and organising themselves in logical patterns. Maybe it’s because order is reassuring, or simply relaxing because they are pure and geometrical forms. Also, in this category of pictures I prefer B&W, perhaps because when the colors are removed the structures are reduced to their pure substance.
Of course, in photos of architecture, the architect comes first and the photographer has the difficult task to capture a detail of his work to emphasise it, or transform it into something completely new, but with full respect to the author of the original work (I doubt that if given the choice any photographer would spend time shooting things he would not like).
In Manuela Martin‘s pictures (on Flickr), there are curves and straits, gorgeous lightings and subtle shades of gray. Stairs, buildings, parkings anything you can find in an urban environment, highlighted by superb compositions. In short, if you are interested in architecture or photos of architecture, this is a collection that you should see.
